Well, this is embarrassing. Nevada is one of the worst-performing states, Covid-wise. While most of the other leading states are clustered, Nevada is by it's lonesome, a local maximum, epicenter of the West.
Iff you drill down deeper, it's really Las Vegas, which shouldn't be a surprise considering the tepid vaccination rate, hot summer that drives everyone indoors, and dropping mitigation measures at the start of tourist season. I wonder if they've retired that what-happens-in-Vegas-stays-in-Vegas slogan, yet.
On the bright side, I'm feeling the urge to travel, and any direction I choose will bring me to a less infections state. So hello...San Diego? Salt Lake City? Boise?
